Personal Project is a course at the Department of Design organised for all MA students.

The course is a one year journey around a theme of student's choice, supported by tutors and multidisciplinary network of the Aalto University. It fosters the development of professional competence, individuality, self-discipline and what's more important, curiosity — a fuel for any successful designer. Open exploration of personal interests is encouraged, thus the project can also be a journey of searching for the illumination.

Personal Project is completed in two phases. The first phase is an independent work of the student supported by the tutor which goes through the whole study year. The second phase is a conference event where all the students have a possibility to present their projects in the format of exhibition or presentation.

Personal Project Tutors

Tutors help to plan and execute a personal project, define a topic and provide support during the whole journey. To start a project, you have to choose your tutor first.
